For today’s bible passage we are going to read the story of Ruth and Naomi. If you’d like to read the whole story you can find it in the book of Ruth, chapters 1-4. It’s a powerful story of love, perseverance and caring for others that is certainly worth revisiting! Below I pulled out one verse that stood out to me. This verse is often used in weddings to show an example of love, but in the bible it was actually expressing the unconditional love between a woman and her mother-in-law. Since we just celebrated Mother’s Day this weekend, I thought it was fitting.
“Where you go, I will go;
where you lodge, I will lodge.
Your people will be my people,
and your God, my God.
Where you die, I’ll die there too
and I will be buried there beside you.
I swear- may YHWH be my witness and judge–
that not even death will keep us apart.”
