Messiah Family and friends,
As you are all aware, this Sunday, January 30th, we will be holding our Annual Meeting. One of the most important things we can do at the congregational meeting is the election of new council members. This year we will have four openings. Here are the four candidates for council. Dan Fergueson and Josh Luebke are running for re-election and Shelia McLaughlin and Lauren Mendez are running for the two remaining slots. I want to thank Mike McLaughlin and Sandi Wollum for their service at Messiah. Your willingness to serve, vision and insightful contributions to council have been greatly appreciated during your time on council.
Dan Fergueson: I was born in Michigan, but raised in Kirkland, and am happy to be back to the Puget Sound after nearly 20 years in Oregon. I currently serve as the Director of Student Activities at Green River College and love being a Gator! My wife and I joined Messiah in the Spring of 2019, and we are now joined by our beautiful daughter who was born in 2020. I am grateful to have found a caring community full of the joy and song!
Josh Luebke: I have been a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 2007 and have been active within the MLC community. Since joining the congregation I have served on the council, chaired the Constitution Review and Personnel Committees, and represented the congregation at SW Washington Synod Assemblies. I have also been involved in the music ministry, where I have been a cantor for over a decade and a member of MLC Chorale. I am married to Jillian and have two sons, Ryan, and Andrew.
Sheilia McLaughlin: Sheilia has been a member of Messiah since 2006. She is an active member of our congregation, and has served with the youth group, is a current member of the Memorials team, current chair of Christmas Hampers, prepares community meals, and is a past member of the MLC council. Sheilia is also a current board member of the Auburn School District. Her family consists of her husband Mike who is currently serving on council, and her daughter Hannah who was raised in this church, was an active member of the youth group and is currently attending the University of Wyoming.
Lauren Mendez: I have been a member of Messiah for the past 15 years. My involvement in Messiah has included youth programming, VBS, book club, and most recently being a part of the Call Committee. My family consists of my husband Ernest, our two chihuahuas, Ishmael and Bendito, and our Guinea pig, Latte. Messiah to me has been a place of love, sacredness, and laughter. In the council, I hope to provide voice and perspective led by Spirit and continue to ask how we can be a space of inclusion and faith for our Auburn neighbors and beyond.
