Children & Youth

The aim of the Faith Formation at Messiah Lutheran Church is to help our community deepen their individual and collective relationship with Jesus Christ through life’s journey. We engage in intergenerational and interactive rituals of our faith community where we grow through study, leadership, service and fellowship so that our faith may be grown, nurtured and sustained.

We believe that faith is taught first and foremost at home and that Messiah can support faith development through Worship, service, Sunday School, VBS, WoW!, Retreats, Adult Education, family events, small groups, our church library, summer camp and age appropriate activities. We encourage and support families through prayer, education, conversation and activities. Together we will grow in faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Nursery– Childcare is provided Sundays during worship: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (year round) for infants and young children.

Children– Sunday School classes begin with 3 year olds- 6th grade. 5th- 6th grader students have a year to prepare for Confirmation in Pre-AOB. During the first half of the year their focus is reviewing the Bible and following Christmas they focus on mission projects and serving others. Sunday School information

Confirmation– 7th-9th grade students meet Sunday mornings also to explore Lutheran theology, their own faith journey and our neighbor’s faith. Confirmation information

YOUTH  — WOW!

“Whazzup on Wednesday?” our weekly youth night for 6th-12th grade youth.
Each week we enjoy a meal and games, as well as a Bible study/discussion, speakers and/or service events. Past WOW! events included a Coffeehouse night with an open microphone, “Bible Survivor,” making care packages for our college students, and “I didn’t know that was in the Bible!”

High School youth are invited to a monthly Small Group Night. These take place in a home, include a meal, and fill our older youth with the opportunity to have in-depth conversations about faith and life issues.
