Council Corner – Janene Nelson

Hello Messiah!

What a joy it is to gather again as one congregation in the sanctuary.  Greeting and talking with one another is such a pleasure.  This is truly what fellowship is all about!  I would like to thank the Hospitality Committee for doing an excellent job every week. They have greeted us with a smile while guiding us through the process of checking in and getting seated.

Getting our services back to pre-COVID status is a step-by-step process.  But each step we take forward is so important.  That’s why I’m happy to report that it’s no longer necessary to register for Sunday services.  Beginning this Sunday, August 8, there’s no more registration!  It’s as simple as that.  Just bring yourself to church on Sunday.  Please plan on arriving early as there is still a sign-in process. You will just fill in your name and phone number for COVID-19 tracking purposes.

Now, besides being in church, what’s the next thing you missed most during the COVID-19 lockdown?  Fellowship, right?  And maybe a cup of coffee to go with it?  Well, this is another step in the process.  A fellowship hour.  So beginning next Sunday, August 8, let’s look forward to our new fellowship hour.  It will immediately follow the worship service in the gathering space.

Unfortunately, the steps this time don’t include getting rid of masks.  You will still need to wear your mask while in the building.  However, during the fellowship hour you can remove your mask to drink coffee while sitting at one of the tables.

I’m looking forward to these positive changes at Messiah.  Come join us next Sunday.  I look forward to seeing you there.

May God Bless You,

Janene Nelson
